China, Japan entrepreneurs call for closer ties in emerging industries

Several entrepreneurs and former officials from China and Japan discussed ways to deepen their cooperation in emerging industries such as semiconductors and new-energy vehicles on Monday.

It was the eighth round of such talks. Participants included ex-government officials such as former Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan and Japan's former Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, along with business leaders and scholars.

"China is ready to work with Japan to boost cooperation in emerging industries such as semiconductors, new-energy vehicles, and biomedicine," said Bi Jingquan, executive vice chair of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges.

He also expressed China's willingness to deepen international cooperation in digital transformation, energy and climate change, healthcare, elderly care, and people-to-people cultural exchanges.
